Homfray Lodge is located in Homfray Channel, one of the isolated inlets of globally renowned Desolation Sound, British Columbia. It’s only reachable by boat or float plane. Its truly an amazing wilderness lodge that allows you to get away from it all.
Homfray Channel was named after Robert Homfray, Civil Engineer , b.1824 d, 1902. The best account of his exploits are contained in the book, The Chilcotin War: A Tale of Death and Reprisal. The tale is compelling. Full of the perils and dangers of an attempt to find a better way to the Chilcotin Gold fields via Bute Inlet. For more on Robert Homfray read more on the history here.
The lodge offers an assortment of accommodation options. We offer spacious and open private One and Two Chalets that sleep up to 6 guests , as well as cozy cedar rooms, each with private bathrooms, perfect for 2 guests. All inclusive stays are available between May 01 and mid-October. Weather permitting, we may have availability outside of these dates, please feel free to contact us with any inquires.
Homfray Lodge original structures were erected in 2008. Substantial further improvements were added after 2011 including: a new duplicate chlorine water filtration system; environmentally friendly septic system; hydro electric system, thanks to a river that runs through the property, with 24/7 power and back up generator; a massive dock for 250 ‘ of moorage. In 2017 the lodge was re-imagined as an all inclusive wilderness destination with all meals, wine with dinner and complimentary water taxi from Lund and Powell River. New activities where added including eco-boat tours, grizzly bear viewing, small ship cruising and kayaking.
