Getting Here

Homfray Lodge is located in beautiful Desolation Sound north of Powell River and Lund, British Columbia on the Sunshine Coast; about 100 miles north of Vancouver. Lund is the closest community and we offer a daily scheduled transfer to the lodge. The Lodge is located in Homfray Channel near Foster Point. Homfray Channel is one of the deepest in North America reaching depths of 2400 feet with surrounding peaks rising up to 8000 feet.

Getting to Homfray Lodge

We are accessible by water or air and located in Homfray Channel in the northern part of Desolation Sound, BC. Homfray Lodge is just a 94 NM from Vancouver and 190 NM from Seattle, making it a premier wilderness destination in globally renowned Desolation Sound, British Columbia.

Scheduled Water Taxi from Lund (1 hour)

We offer a complimentary scheduled boat transfer from Lund, BC (1 hour) and if required scheduled transfer between Powell River Airport and Lund (45 minutes). This transfer operates once daily. Please check with us to coordinate your schedule.

Flights from Vancouver/Victoria (35 min)

Pacific Coastal Airlines offers daily non-stop (35 min) flights from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Powell River Airport (YPW) with Pacific Coastal Airlines. From Powell River Airport a scheduled land transfer and water taxi is available for select flights.

Sunshine Coast Air offers daily scheduled flights from Vancouver to Sechelt with a connecting flight to the Lodge, as well as chartered flights. For flights with Sunshine Coast Air  visit their website at Sunshine Coast Air.

Harbour Air offers daily scheduled flights from Vancouver, Victoria to Sechelt with connecting flights to the Lodge. To book a flight see Harbour Air.

Flights from Campbell River (Direct to Lodge)

Corilair offers flights direct to the lodge, from Campbell River with with a daily “mail run” flights. These sea plane flights may make stops along route in the Discovery Islands, Desolation Sound and surrounding area. To book and see schedule Corilair

Flights from Seattle (2 hours)

Kenmore Air offers charter flights. See their website, Kenmore Air to book.

Seaplane charters options are also available between the lodge and Vancouver, Victoria, Campbell River, Whistler, Tofino, Seattle and any other destination.

Note: Please leave a minimum of 2 hours between international arrival and departure flight connections.

Driving (5 hours from Vancouver)

If you are driving you drive from either Vancouver or Comox with BC Ferries. If driving from Vancouver you will take BC Ferries from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale (40 minutes) on the Sunshine Coast then proceed north for 1 1/2 hours on Highway 101 to Earls Cove where you’ll the second BC Ferry between Earlts Cove and Saltry Bay (50 minutes) which is located on the north end of the Sunshine Coast. From there continue to travel north on Highway 101 through Powell River (30 minutes) and on to Lund.

From Vancouver Island you can also take BC Ferries between Comox (Vancouver Island) to Powell River (1 hour 50 minutes), then drive from Powell River to Lund.

From Lund we have complimentary scheduled, once per day, water taxi included. Please contact us to coordinate your water taxi. There is long term and short term parking available in Lund at the Historic Lund Hotel, next to our water taxi docks.

By Boat 

If you plan to arrive with your own boat, Homfray Lodge is located on the east or mainland side of Homfray Channel just north of Forbes Bay, behind Foster Point .  Ample moorage is available for guests with reservations at the lodge.  View our location on Canadian nautical charts here.
